Cymwysterau Sylfaen / Foundation Qualifications

Bydd Cymwysterau Cymru yn bwrw ymlaen â datblygu ystod o gymwysterau Sylfaen ar lefel mynediad/lefel 1, a fydd yn cyd-fynd â chymwysterau TAAU a TGAU. Bydd cymwysterau Sylfaen yn y gofod TGAU ar gael yn y pynciau cyffredinol, tra bydd y cymwysterau Sylfaen yn y gofod TAAU mewn pynciau sy’n gysylltiedig â gwaith.

Dilynwch y diweddariadau isod neu gofynnwch gwestiwn i ni am y cymwysterau Sylfaen newydd. Rydyn ni’n monitro’r wefan hon yn rheolaidd ac yn anelu at ymateb o fewn tua 3 diwrnod gwaith.


Qualifications Wales will go ahead with the development of a range of Foundation qualifications at entry level/level 1, that will complement VCSEs and GCSEs. Foundation qualifications in the GCSE space will be available in general subjects, while the Foundation qualifications in the VCSE space will be in work-related subjects.

    Draft Approval Criteria: Foundation Qualifications

    We have published draft approval criteria for the new Foundation qualifications which will be available for first teaching in September 2027.  There are two draft approval criteria; one for general subjects and one for work-related subjects.  

    Approval criteria set out the requirements that an awarding body must meet when designing their qualifications.  

    We are inviting stakeholders to read the draft approval criteria for and share their feedback before we publish the final documents.  

    These documents are still working drafts. Any textual inaccuracies or inconsistencies between documents will be corrected before publication of the final document. 

    Your feedback is important to us and will aid our development work as we prepare the final versions of the approval criteria.
