Information regarding Welsh-medium qualifications on QiW
We recently consulted on proposals to require awarding bodies to promote the availability of, and facilitate access to Welsh-medium qualifications.
One of the themes arising from our consultation related to the information currently available to stakeholders on our Qualifications in Wales (QiW) database. Some respondents questioned whether the information on QiW clearly demonstrates the extent to which qualifications are available through the medium of Welsh.
We know that schools and colleges use the information on QiW to plan their Welsh-medium and bilingual provision. To do this, they can search for qualifications that are both 'fully' and ‘partially’ available in Welsh. However, QiW does not currently provide any additional detail around the nature of that partial availability. For example, the proportion of the qualification, or what specific units or components are available in Welsh, as well as any supporting resources and materials.
We would like to hear your views on the following:
whether additional information relating to Welsh-medium qualifications on QiW would be useful from a curriculum planning perspective
what kind of additional information you would like to see
what form that additional information could usefully take on QiW
