Level 1 Number, Measure and Data
This brand-new qualification will help learners to develop and demonstrate the specific numerical knowledge and skills they need for employment, everyday life and further learning. It has been developed alongside employers and post-16 learning providers to make sure it focuses on the mathematical skills most needed by young people.
We expect that most learners will achieve this qualification while studying for GCSE Mathematics and Numeracy. It will be designed to be co-taught alongside the GCSE and will develop learners’ confidence in mathematics as well as their appreciation of the applications of mathematics in everyday life.
The qualification will be assessed through a single, on-screen and on-demand assessment so that learners can take the qualification whenever they are ready.
What’s the purpose of the qualification?
Designed for majority of learners between the ages of 14 and 16
Supports the Curriculum for Wales
Builds on the teaching and learning completed by the end of Year 9
